the ovoid outer section gilt with floral scrolls on an iron-red ground reserved with three openwork medallions of 'The Three Friends' in 'famille-rose' enamels, the inner section painted with figures on horseback and on foot outside a gatehouse in a continuous scene, the removable neck set with four pierced iron-red handles and decorated with lotus on a bright yellow ground between formal borders, repeated on the stand and gilt knopped cover, the turquoise-glazed base inscribed in iron-red with a four-character mark within a double square
