the two halves of the frame of the rectangular slatted seat folding down when the hinged legs are uncrossed, a rectangular frame supporting the open stool tenoned into the underside of the central member and locking into the junction of the legs, the seat frame with beaded shaped edge carved with dragons, the two pairs of legs joined with metal hinges and terminating in square section base stretchers, the pivoted footrest with metal mounts

This lot is sold with a Tomlinson Antique House certificate of antiquity describing this stool as huanghuali and dating it to the Qing dynasty.
Compare with a huanghuali stool dated to the 17th/18th century from the Piccus Collection sold at Christie's, New York, 18 September 1997, lot 29.

Condition Report
A corner chipped off at one end of each base stretcher. One leg with an infilled crack for approx 10 cm. Otherwise generally good condition
