In 1993 Audemars Piguet introduced the Royal Oak Offshore, a new version of the classic Gerald Genta created Royal Oak model. Designed by Emmanuel Gueit, the Royal Oak Offshore was considered one of the most contentious but ultimately successful revamps in horological design of the 20th century. The first reference in the series was dubbed 'The Beast' by collectors mainly due to its impressive case size of 42mm.
