By the middle of the first decade of the 21st Century, the manufacturer, Piaggio, had built over 16,000,000 Vespa scooters. Familiar the world over as a means of transport where two wheels are more economical, practical and at times, stylish than four, the Vespa is an integral part of Italian post-war rejuvenation and recognized as an icon of Italian street style and industrial design.

From its earliest iteration in 1946, the evolution of the Vespa continues to this day. One of the great milestones in the history of the scooter was the development of the Vespa 150GS in 1955. Regarded by many as the finest scooter ever built, it is much sought after by Vespa collectors. This is not only on account of its clean, elegant proportions, but also because of its high performance, a direct result of Piaggio’s experience gained from trials and racing with the Six-Day Trial Vespa (Vespa Sei Giorni). It was the fastest Vespa ever until the Vespa 200 Rally of 1972 and capable of 101 kmh. Improved brakes, wheels, lights, Dellorto carburettor and four-speed gearbox, all reflected the increased demands of this higher speed machine. This bike has all necessary import documentation, it comes with its original handbooks and is included on the Italian historical register number 16582.
