The history of Porsche cars is well known to enthusiasts and few marques enjoy the reputation that Porsche has developed over the years. This has been the result of technical innovation, high build quality and a formidable competition history. The original cars developed into the 356 series which was the basis of the cars success. The 356 was discontinued in 1965 and the new model, the 911, still recognisably Porsche in appearance, embodied a new 2-litre six-cylinder engine and the abandonment of the over-steer prone swing-axle rear suspension in favour of a semi-trailing arm triangular-link arrangement.

The Porsche Carrera G Series was the car that people thought Porsche would not be able to build – it kept the same beautiful shape as its predecessors however and yet still met with the drastic new American crash regulations. The top of the range was the five-speed transmission 2.7 Carrera producing  210bhp at 6300rpm. This series was the first to be fitted with inertia-reel seat belts as standard whilst the Carrera had a smaller 15” diameter steering wheel and electric windows.

The lovely Carrera offered here, one of only 1036 examples, was originally a German delivered car and then underwent a conversion to right hand drive in Brisbane in 1983. It has been the subject of much expenditure over the years including an engine rebuild at 78,000 miles by John Gregory. It was purchased by the current owner in 2001 for which bills are available for inspection and the recorded mileage is now 94,336. Originally delivered with Sunda Grun (green) paintwork it is now finished in yellow with black interior and its overall condition will appeal to the discerning enthusiast.
